Who is our course for? >
These English courses for adults are aimed at people from around the world who are working or studying in Ireland and aged 18 years or older who wish to prepare for Cambridge Exams (eg. FCE, CAE).
What are the course options? >
Whatever course you choose, our teachers are going to help you to achieve the goals you have set yourself:
Certificate in Advanced English
(Code: CAE-DL) >
CAE Exam English classes provide students with 3 or 6 hours classes each week giving them the opportunity to review their existing language skills; acquire new ones; practise everything they have learnt; and successfully communicate in English.
- 3 or 6 hours per week
- Monday and/or Wednesday 18:45-21:45
- Maximum 8 students per class. Average of 6 students per class
- Teachers experienced and qualified to Irish Department of Education standards
- The classes cover the four main parts of the Cambridge exams: Reading with Use of English (Grammar), Listening, Speaking, and Writing. Students prepare by extending their Vocabulary and Grammar, while practicing exam taking strategies.
- Classes include a short break when coffee, tea and soft-drinks are available.
- Classes are also open to those who do not wish to sit the exams but want to improve their English.
First Certificate in English

Weekend English Course for Adults
(Code: WEA-DL) >
- 3 hours per week
- Saturday or Sunday 10:30-13:30
- Maximum 8 students per class. Average of 6 students per class
- Teachers experienced and qualified to Irish Department of Education standards
- Balanced mix of general English language topics (grammar, idioms, structures etc) andcommunication skills (speaking, writing etc) with a strong focus on 'speaking'.
- Classes include a short break when coffee, tea and soft-drinks are available.
We have genuinely small class sizes >
On our standard and intensive courses:
- average class sizes of 6 students!
- maximum class sizes of 8 students per class
*Most language schools have maximum class sizes of 15 students per class with an average of 13.
*All of our courses, except for private 1-1 classes, will have a minimum class size of 4 students per class. If there are less than 4 students in any class, we will provide a more intensive alternative class.
What is the aim of these courses ? >
We focus on getting students to communicate effectively in English and to successfully pass their Cambridge Exams.
What about the teachers ? >
All teachers are experienced teachers of English as a foreign language and are qualified to Irish department of Education standards. They are dedicated teachers - dedicated to helping you to communicate effectively in English and to achieve the goals you set for the course.
We provide a responsive and personal service >
- we will test your English knowledge with an online test
- your speaking ability will be assessed and we will place you in a class based on that assessmentand your online test
- we will have a Director of Studies available so that you can talk about your progress and ask forany other information you require during your course;
- we will provide you with an end-of-course certificate with recommendations for further study.
Why study at the DLTC language school? >

- Students can begin these courses at any time during the year and can continue with the course as long as they want or need. The shortest period is for 4 weeks but we recommend at least 12 weeks for students who wish to sit a Cambridge exam. Students only have to pay for 4 weeks at any time - so if you want to continue at the end of 4 weeks, you just pay for the next 4 weeks.
